As long as they are not undeserving politicians - they should be awarded doctorate.
e.g. Dr. MGR, Dr. Rajanikant, Dr. Chiranjivi , Dr. Amitabh , Dr. Dilip Kumar acceptable
Dr. Kalaingar , Dr jayalalitha , Dr. Lalu yadav (future) - Not acceptable
Dr. Dhoni, Dr. Tendulkar, Dr. Kapil Dev - acceptable.
Please note that PHD or Doctorate is recognition for outstanding achievements. Dr. MGR, Dr. Rajanikant, Dr. MGR, Dr. Rajanikant, Dr. Chiranjivi , Dr. Amitabh , Dr. Dilip Kumar excelled in the 'acting' without any formal training at NSD. But, the point is they outperform many professors of NSD, who might have a doctorate degree.
Of late, Indian Army/BSF recruited Kapil Dev as an honorary lieutenant .
