Prior to sending out mails such as the one on bar codes, it is advisable to check on the web, whether we are unwittingly circulating hoaxes and mails with false / misleading claims. In case of the Barcode thing, please be advised that the first three digits only mention the country that is assigning the bar code to the product in question. Thus if a product is manufactured in China, and the head office of the product is located in the US, the barcode assigned will be of US and NOT of China. Similarly a Chinese firm might be getting its products manufactured in India. In this case the barcode will be showing 'China'.
