Dear Friends,
I went through the proposition of Prof. R. Vaidyanathan and followed by feedbacks and comments.To this, I must state that, there should be proper regulatory mechanisms imposed by the Govt.. Not only on the NGOs, but also on the academicians (especially the university circles) in India who spend crores of funds mobilised internally and externally, the corrupt politicians, companies like Satyam, etc.
Since some NGOs are doing wrong things, you can not penalise all the NGOs who are working for the bottom of the pyramid struggling with huge problems/issues. . But arresting the foreign funds for all NGOs, for me, will not be a just and genuine proposition.
I also wish to quote that during the previous BJP rule, many of the bilateral projects such as DANIDA were asked to pack up. The loss for closing the bilateral projects (working with state Govt.s) was not for Danida and other foreign countries, but the loss is for our country. The projects supported by foreign agencies were undertaking lot of good pilot projects where our Govt. servants could not penetrate.
Unless corruptions at the politicians level and officials level is checked, we cannot have an efficient check on faulty NGOs. Even many NGOs are promoted and run by politicians and greedy public officials to make money.
