A classroom unattended!
By Urwat til Vusqa
The students who normally drift to sleep, occasionally droll or the much hardworking ones do not have to sit attentively, trying their level best to give an impression that they are absorbing everything that the teacher is saying. __._,_.___
That is why these students make sure that in the absence of a teacher, which is no more than the greatest gift and a sheer blessing for them, they enjoy to there fullest. In fact, the scene witnessed when the teacher is not in the class quite contradicts to when he/she is actually present. I think that the wild attitude of the students in the absence of a teacher is fully justified. After all, they have full right to enjoy themselves after having to struggle with an extremely boring and an interminable lecture which sounds more like double Dutch to them rather than any familiar language.
The room which is supposed to be a place to sit and acquire knowledge is filled with all sorts of queer noises and one cannot stop swivelling his head in every direction as wherever one sees, a fascinating and intriguing site meets the eye. Furthermore, whenever any such peculiar site is seen, to many people like myself, some very funny similes flash in the mind. But they seem to fit so perfectly that one cannot help thinking of them. Like for example, there is so much of chaos in the room that the class reminds me very much of a fish market where you are quite baffled about who is the buyer and who is the seller. Everybody is so engrossed in his own activity that no one pays any heed to the poor house reps (I pity them, really!) who look like shouting shepherds and the rest of the class like herds of sheep, each sheep too absorbed in munching away the grass happily and therefore not paying any attention to its master. I actually have all my sympathies for these helpless house reps who, in spite of their shouting and yelling, are completely unsuccessful in suppressing the deafening voices of the rest of the class who totally turn a deaf ear towards them.
Their careworn faces can even soften the toughest man on earth as they seem to reflect only one thing: What is going to happen to us if any teacher comes and sees all this pandemonium. Surely it would be us who would be granted with the most pleasant remarks from the infuriated teacher, the most common one being the threat that their honour of being the house rep would be taken away.
Apart from the never ending miseries of the house reps, there is a corner of these whole lot of critics who are analysing everything in general, starting from the teachers mobile to a girls hairstyle. The comments exchanged among them are so juicy that one cannot stop himself from eavesdropping until you see their withering looks all turned to your direction.
After that, they further lower there voices and always keep an eye on you to make sure that you are not lingering anywhere near them. Then the attention is diverted to another corner solely dedicated to the monkeys of the circus who are trying their level best to perform extraordinary feats in which they are quite unsuccessful and look more like monkeys rather than professional acrobats.
In the middle of all this hustle bustle, one may encounter a pouch flying randomly with a speed exceeding that of a bullet. Undoubtedly, this small cylindrical pouch is fired by the sporty and teasing ones who are posted arches at different positions ready to fire and catch on the slightest move. This scene is garnished and is given a final touch by a girl screaming at the top of her lungs demanding immediately to hand her beloved pouch back. She, simultaneously, is moving her hands wildly in all directions, trying to catch her pouch but unfortunately is unable to do so and the devilish smiles on the arches is then noticed to be broadened.
Lastly, one may be lucky enough to notice two or three students who are forcibly squeezed in one corner. Books in one hand and a pen in the other, these students, in my opinion are the bravest of all as they are surviving on the battlefield unarmed, without any scheme of defence. But it seems that they actually do not care about what is happening around them, shut from the world, these students are no doubt the future Einsteins (you never know, a formula for a new kind of atom bomb may struck one of them while he/she is studying the chemistry book). These students have the motto that they come to school only to study and therefore, even a single second of their time should not be wasted (Phew, What potential!). Anyone can get inspiration about how they are actually concentrating on their work when such eye catching scenes are strewn all around them.
These exuberant scenes being the witnesses of the exotic colours and vigour of life fills you with an urge of exploration. The air around the class may be very congested and highly suffocating. It may even seem as if the bulging doors of the room will burst forth and the students will be flooding out. But it is a wonder that in such a small room how you discover and unveil more and more ways about how different people approach towards life.
