I would like to share my experience.. I had booked a first class e ticket for Coromandel express from Chennai to Kolkata ( due to 2nd class ticket not being available and my journey was urgent.) This was in November last year. Nov 26th to be precise. After my luggage went through the security check ( due to Babri Masjid anniversary) I was told that my train had been cancelled ! No explanation/reasons given.
I went to collect refund and after 1 hour of wait in the que...( there were other trains cancelled) I was told that as it was an e ticket ( for which full money had been paid in cash) I could not be refunded the money then and there , although it was not I who cancelled the journey.!! I had to go back to the travel agent who actually should refund the cash as it was them who had collected the money. When I went to the travel agent the agent was happy to refund the money but not then and there. he would have to make an application to the railways for refund.... and when he got the money from the railways he would then pay me my refund ! Well I am aware that there are great magicians in our great country but I was not expecting the travel agent to refund me my money immediately. I am aware that although the eticket had been bought through internet... the application for refund and money to be returned would be slower than the snail mail !! It took 70 days for the refund to happen... so the Ministry of Railways had been earning interest on my trapped sum. Imagine how many people in the country would have bought etickets and faced similar situation. Jai ho, Jai Bharat Mata.... --- __._,_.___
