Re: Did you know about epost of Department of Posts, India? |
|
Honestly this looks like an absolutely inane product proposition. Why on earth would anyone go to a post office to send an e-mail at 10 bucks, even if it personalizes it for him by scanning his handwriting? Or for that matter, why on earth would anyone with a net connection at home (and we can assume, one who has a net connection at home also has a phone) spend 10 bucks to send a text only message? Why for that matter would someone spend that kind of money to get a letter delivered by post? Let's think this through. There are remote corners of this land with no net access. Granted. But these locations are almost equally inaccessible to the postman, or at least takes ages to receive a physical letter. Don't you think there are much smarter ways to get a message across, and just as personalized
- Call the phone in the village shop. Every village has at least 1 shop with a phone, some have 2 or 3. Worst case scenario, this village does not have a phone, or the phone is down - another village nearby has one. Leave a message. Call back at an appointed time. Price - well, more than 10 bucks for sure, but certain, fast and most importantly, you get to talk.
- Call the person on his cellphone. If he doesn't have one, someone in his village does. Likely quite a few of his neighbours do. And just just talk to him. Simple. Price - 5 -7 bucks depending on how long the call is and yes, you get to talk.
- Send him a text message on his cellphone or that of a neighbour or someone in the village. If he can read your handwriting, he can also read the text. No. One catch - cellphone text can be in Roman and Devanagari. Maybe he cannot read either Roman or Devanagari - he can read Telugu, or Santhali in Ol Chiki script, or Punjabi in Gurmukhi script. Still no issues. Write it in Roman script. At least 5 people in the village know ABC. Price - 1 - 2 bucks.
- Write a letter and post it. It will reach, though no guarantees on when. Price - 5 bucks.
