Re: I wouldn't have interacted with you in English and use internet, if my ancestors had not embraced Christianity.
Vincent,

You are projecting as though christian missionaries dared to enter
those tribal region.. but the fact is that the missionaries were the
ones who were providing all intelligence inputs to the britishers to
colonise india..
As a reward, they received huge amounts of grants from the wealth
looted from india..

In one way, whatever education they initiated were out of indian
wealth they helped britishers to loot..

Secondly, the entire North East was isolated from the rest of the land
by the britishers.. thus the missionaries had a free hand in that
region for almost a century..

Upon independance, when our first leaders went to North east, they
were shocked to see those people showing black flags to them.. and
then only, the organisation "Vanvasi Kalyan Parishad" was formed to
bring those tribals to the mainstream..

Secondly, as we have seen from dharampal's works, the education at
england during 1832 was most at basic level, and that too for selected
nobles,.. not for ordinarly people, as they were treated as slaves..

So its not correct to say they only educated tribals.. infact, they
had destroyed thousands of years of tribal knowledge, skills and
wealth, and imposed a system, which the tribals were not even aware of..

Regards,
Senthil
